德魯克先生壹生著書和授課未曾間斷。自1971年起，壹直任教於克萊蒙特大學的彼德·德魯克管理研究生院。為紀念其在管理領域的傑出貢獻，克萊蒙特大學的管理研究院以他的名字命名。1990年，為提高非營利組織的績效，由弗朗西斯·赫塞爾本等人發起，以德魯克的聲望，在美國成立了“德魯克非營利基金會”。該基金會十余年來選拔優秀的非營利組織，舉辦研討會、出版教材、書籍及刊物多種，對社會造成巨大影響。
德魯克先生已出版超過30本書籍,被翻譯成30多種文字,傳播及130多個國家,甚至在前蘇聯、波蘭、南斯拉夫、捷克等國也極為暢銷。其中最受推崇的是他的原則概念及發明，包括：“將管理學開創成為壹門學科、目標管理與自我控制是管理哲學、組織的目的是為了創造和滿足顧客、企業的基本功能是行銷與創新、高層管理者在企業策略中的角色、成效比效率更重要、分權化、民營化、知識工作者的興起、以知識和資訊為基礎的社會。”至2004年，德魯克先生還有新書問世。
2002年6月20日，美國總統喬治·W·布什宣布彼得·德魯克成為當年的“總統自由勛章”的獲得者，這是美國公民所能獲得的最高榮譽。
無論是英特爾公司創始人安迪·格魯夫，微軟董事長比爾·蓋茨，還是通用電氣公司前CEO傑克·韋爾奇，他們在管理思想和管理實踐方面都受到了彼得·德魯克的啟發和影響。“假如世界上果真有所謂大師中的大師，那個人的名字，必定是彼得·德魯克”——這是著名財經雜誌《經濟學人》對彼得·德魯克的評價。
