金融工程更加微觀壹些，要求更加紮實的數學功底。中財金融工程班只招理科生，有很多金工的學生在全國、乃至國際大學生數學建模中獲得獎項。他們的課程從大壹到大三都要學習數學，包括博弈論、運籌學等相關學科。但是相比金融學專業，他們接觸的宏觀知識就比較少了，所以在運用面上不及金融學。
中財金融工程的學生素質在全院、全校都是比較高的，就業率也很不錯。只是師資...有點可惜了這麽優秀的學生。其實金融專業的優勢要大壹些，相比金融工程。（中財的金融學專業是國家級重點學科。）
